The TVShow Blog is for Sale

Many people have emailed and asked me how much I would be selling off the site for. I think it is amazing that someone would want to take what we have started here and carry on either doing the same thing or using it for your own thing.

The most popular question I am getting is simply how much are you asking for the site. Well, that’s the funny thing. I didn’t know. I figured if I wasn’t using it that maybe someone else would, so instead of just saying goodbye I put up a notice that it was for sale. So we have decided that we would leave it as an open market sale.

We will be entertaining offers for the next month and on September 25th 2008, we will contact the individual we have decided to go with. CLICK HERE to email me with your offer.

The offer will be for the domain name, the hosting package (approximately 6months remaining) and the current content. I will also entertain offers for just the domain name and hosting.

Thank you again for your readership and we look forward to finding a new home for theTVShowBlog soon.

The TVShow Blog Says Goodbye

Well the TVShow Blog had a good run and we do get some regular traffic, however due to other commitments we just don’t have the time to support this site any longer.

I thank all the International Friends who followed us over from The Movie Blog and for the rest of you who found our stories interesting and participated in discussion here.

The domain name is available should someone have the desire to take the site and do something with it. Serious offers will be entertained if you wish to email me about it.

Thanks for the good run friends!

More Characters Join Smallville

I’ve always liked Superman. I’ve been watching the movies since I was real young, and the only thing that has changed since is my opinions of the third and fourth movies. I can’t believe I even liked those at one point of my life! I’ll even defend Superman Returns to my very death. Just like I would for the character himself. But, when I first heard about Smallville, I thought “Why are they set a superhero show during the most over-trivial, melodramatic point of his life-high school?” And then I finally gave the show a chance, and it was alright. I never really got into it, and I still dislike the idea of it. For me, the first half hour of Superman: The Movie said it all best. And then I heard about all the Justice League characters popping up, and I thought it was an interesting idea. I saw episode with the Flash and it was OK. And then I heard that they kept on adding more and more and more, and I’m sitting here thinking “Why?!! This is Superman’s!!!”  And now they are adding more characters.  AICN reports.

The Legion of Super-Heroes, teen do-gooders from 1,000 years in the future, has always been a major part of the Superboy mythos — and now it looks like Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy and Saturn Girl are all coming to “Smallville.” This will represent the first live-action depiction of The Legion, first introduced in Adventure Comics 50 years ago last April.

I’m not really into this.. What do you guys think?

ComicCon08 Battlestar Galactica Panel

Kevin Smith moderates a panel at San Diego ComicCon with the cast and creators of the new Battlestar Galactica.

Present are David Ike & Ronald D Moore (Executive Producers), James Callis (Baltar), Tricia Helfer (Six), Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck), Jamie Bamber (Lee Adama), Michael Trucco (Anders) and a latecomer, Tahmoh Penikett (Helo).

I would have loved to have been at this panel. Kevin Smith is awesome. The biggest fanboy and still Hollywood enough to moderate.

They talk about their best moments of the show, memories as well as hints to the future and the last 10 episodes. They also reveal that the 5th Cylon is Boxey’s pet Muffit. (kidding)

Scifi.com didn’t offer an embed feature, but it is the ENTIRE 1 hour panel. Click here to go view it. Some great stories, fun times.

And dare I say that Katee looks HOTTER than Tricia Helfer? No easy feat. Maybe it’s just that shes so badass on the show that when we finally see in her girl clothes (aka cleavage) and being pretty that we are overwhelmed. But wow.

Wonderfalls Character to jump to Pushing Daisies

I don’t know why I didn’t see the connection before, but Bryan Fuller, the genius behind Pushing Daisies was responsible for the little known and highly underrated Wonderfalls.

Now Fuller wants to bring about a little crossover introducing a character from Wonderfalls into the world of Pushing Daisies.

AICN reports

Mary Ann Marie Beetle, a character from the “Muffin Buffalo” episode of “Wonderfalls,” will turn up in a season-two episode of ABC’s “Pushing Daisies,” series mastermind Bryan Fuller told the ComicCon crowd Saturday.Fuller, who created both “Daisies” and “Wonderfalls,” said he’d love to have “Wonderfalls” central character Jaye Tyler turn up on “Daisies” as well.

I think that this is awesome news. Pushing Daisies is so very likeable and addictively strange and different from anything else on TV. Its refreshingly awesome, and so was Wonderfalls.

I’d LOVE to see Jaye on Pushing Daisies. Check out this clip from Wonderfalls.

Farscape Continues - in Comics

I always loved this series. Farscape got away with some of the things that make a show lame, and it just made the show better.

We won’t be lucky enough to get a new Series on TV, but at least they are taking it to comics.

Season 5 - The Return to Hyneria!!

Our favourite irritating nobleman is returning to his bloodright in a comic book.

Neil Patrick Harris on Sesame Street

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is not the only recent musical appearance for Neil Patrick Harris. Check out this fantastic musical number from Sesame Street on YouTube!

AfterElton.com’s Michael Jensen got to chat with Neil Patrick Harris at the CBS party this past weekend during the Television Critics Association Tour, and asked him about his appearance on Sesame Street as “The Shoe Fairy”. Here’s what NPH had to say:

“Not the shoe fairy – the fairy shoe person. I was asked by Sesame Street to be a part of a song and I just leapt at the opportunity. Jim Henson was the only person I ever wrote a fan letter to as a kid and I’m a wild fan of puppets and the Henson Company in general. They wrote a song, wanted me to sing it … It was a great, great afternoon.

I think I have to declare this the year of Neil Patrick Harris. It was another great season on How I Met Your Mother, leading to an Emmy nom for NPH. He thrilled the web as the singing evil mastermind Dr. Horrible. And now he’s winning over a whole new generation on Sesame Street! Anyone else agree with me? Is this NPH’s year?

How I Met Your Mother S3 DVD Release Announced

Can’t wait to re-watch Season Three of How I Met Your Mother? It makes its DVD debut on - wait for it - October 7th! Warning - there is some spoiler-ish information below.

According to TV Shows on DVD:

The third season of How I Met Your Mother, dubbed the ‘Legendary Season’ on the packaging, will be released on October 7 for $39.98 US, or $54.98 CAN.

The DVDs will include some fun extras, including unrated gag reels, the Robin Sparkles “Sandcastles in the Sand” music video with commentary, and Lily & Marshall’s honeymoon videos. I discovered HIMYM earlier this year, and ended up watching all three seasons in just a couple of months. I have to admit, it has become one of my favourite sitcoms of all time. Anyone else looking forward to the Season Three DVDs as much as I am?

Estelle Getty passes away

Sophia from the Golden Girls was probably one of the best television characters of the 80’s. Sadly, Estelle Getty has passed away, Yahoo!News reports:

Getty, who suffered from dementia, passed away early this morning at her Los Angeles home surrounded by her family, according to her son Carl Gettleman.

Estelle Getty was one of the most gifted actresses on television at the time, and I’m sad to hear this news. Though I must say it’s nice to hear of someone who lived a long full life, rather than the rash of young deaths that have been in the news lately.

Caprica Trailer Now Online!

The first glimpse of the Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica, is now online, causing major buzz – and lots of discontent.

Watch the Caprica trailer over at SciFi.com, and weigh in your thoughts.

Rob Hunter at Film School Rejects had the following to say after viewing the trailer:

A family drama about the creation of the first Cylons? Without Vipers, dogfights, cliffhangers, or frakkin Grace Park? One of BSG’s many strengths is its strong, dramatic story lines, but they work as part of the whole BSG package. Removing everything but the drama would probably make for a decent TV movie, but an entire series?

Hunter’s sentiments seem to be shared by Peter Sciretta (and nearly everyone who’s commented so far) at SlashFilm.

Personally, I’m intrigued by this trailer. I’ve always loved the more dramatic aspects of BSG, and the character development. The casting choices appear to have been spot-on, particularly Esai Morales as Joseph Adama, and Eric Stoltz as Daniel Graystone. This is the Genesis of the Cylons, and the BSG universe as we currently know it. I for one want to see how the end of humanity began, even if it means there won’t be any big blow-out battles in space. What are your thoughts?

“Dollhouse” gets new 1st Episode

After a successfully debut of Doctor Horrible, anticipation for Joss Whedon’s next project, “Dollhouse”, has been renewed. Now word comes from straight from Whedon himself that a new “first episode” is being shot.

I’ve been busying myself with a little something I like to call DOLLHOUSE. Finishing a new episode. Finishing a new… here’s the headline… FIRST episode. What’s that, you say? A second first? How can such a thing be? Does it defy the laws of all physics?

Well, the idea to do a new first episode wasn’t the network’s. It was mine. I understood their consternation, and saw the gap between my style and their expectations, and I suggested I shoot a new ep and make the one I’d shot the second. It isn’t going to be buried, like the pilot of Firefly. It’s simply coming after another, slightly cleaner ep. And because unlike Firefly, it isn’t a two hour epic which introduces everyone to each other, the onus isn’t on the new ep to explain a million things.

Yes, this seems all to familiar. Is Joss getting screwed by Fox again? He goes on to explain that unlike “Buffy” and “Angel”, “Dollhouse” the network makes tweaks to the show after it is shot, not prior (as the production was greenlit and production started before ANYTHING was shot).

I have faith in Joss Whendon; Doctor Horrible renewed it. I believe “Dollhouse” will be a smart, funny, action-filled, mythos-rich drama that will surprise most. Am I off? Is there anything to be worried about here?

Jason Dohring @ Polaris - Part Two

Welcome back to coverage of Polaris 22 in Toronto, and the second installment of my feature on Jason Dohring, which will take us into the world of Moonlight, and his experience as the vampire Josef.

Right off the bat at the press conference, he was asked about the effect of the WGA strike on Moonlight, and if he thought the show suffered as a result. “I think we had similar ratings throughout,” he recounted. “It wasn’t like we were doing fantastic, and then we had the writers’ strike, and then we were doing worse. Perhaps we would have built more. Toward the end, we became more solid, every episode was even better and on the rise.”

Perhaps the most interesting information that Dohring related, in my opinion, was how he brought Josef to life. Apparently, it took him a while to get into the character. He shared, “I think we started to get into it more toward the end, where we sort of found our own, and I started to get what I think they wanted from my character. I always tried to make things brooding, and it totally wasn’t right for that show, because Mick was that character … I was in the way, trying to do my cool stuff. Once I got the idea of what the show needed I was able to do it, to be light, and the best friend.” Dohring also gave some insight into the backstory he’d created for Josef. “At one point, I imagined him being like Mick, that he was a good guy, and at some point it changed, and he lost his integrity. That’s why he can admire Mick and look up to him because it’s something he (Josef) had and lost. He wasn’t strong enough to hold on to it.”

Of course, he had some help in his transformation from human to vampire. According to Dohring, the process “was about 40 minutes. They’re pretty fast. They’d just put on white makeup, and for the eyes they’d do contacts. Then they’d take this little airbrush to your neck and paint these cool veins.”

When asked what the best thing is about being on a vampire series, he responded, “I guess all the special effects. It’s really cool when you’d see it afterward, because you didn’t do all the jumping off buildings and stuff like that, but you’d see it afterward and go ‘Wow’. Or watching them (stuntmen) do it. Because these guys are crazy.”

During the fan Q&A on Sunday afternoon, Dohring shared some fun little tidbits about his tenure on Moonlight. Here are a couple of those musings:
-If Josef had been given the chance, he would have taken a bite of Beth.
-Josef’s freezer was probably a velvet-lined, 4 person model, so he could share it with three women.

Dohring was definitely a hit in Toronto. What’s next from the Polaris 22 coverage? My report on the press conference with Torchwood’s Gareth David-Lloyd.

First look at Richie on Chuck

It looks like Nicole Richie is getting to do a little bit of fun stuff on the set of Chuck, according to Chuck Online:

“I had a stunt double,” added Nicole on her action-packed role as a girl girl on NBC’s Chuck. “But they said I was allowed to do as much as I wanted–except for serious things.”

That’s a bit of a new take on “stunt casting.” I actually am looking forward to this one.

Dr Horrible Takes Over the World!

Joss Whedon has some big plans with Dr Horrible. What started as a fun project to keep off the crazies during the Writers Strike, Clan Whedon +1 put their heads together and a low 6 figure budget to produce a web feature film called Dr Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog. And its become a raving success “breaking the internet” on its first day and remaining the top downloaded iTunes file under the TV Category.

But the fans need not worry. Dr Horrible isn’t over.

Chicago Tribune says:

An online comic has already been released, a graphic novel is planned and the commentary track on the DVD release will all be sung by the cast and creators. There could be a sequel as well, Harris said.“Joss has some strange, giant master plan that includes much more than a sequel,” Harris said. “Joss thinks on a great many levels, so when he was pitching it to us, he said, ‘And this will take over the world, and there will be sequels and musicals on stage and feature films and we’ll get our own television network and they’ll name awards after us’ and things like that.”

The mass marketing reminds me of Mel Brooks in Spaceballs. Its not about the movie. The real money is in the MERCHANDISING! And he couldn’t be more right.

The fans have been itching for some quality Whedon for a while now. Its been 6 years since the sad overlooking of Firefly got it canceled, and 4 years since Angel went off the air. Ironicly, when Buffy was cancelled by the WB it was ‘uncancelled’ when UPN picked it up for 2 more seasons. Later the WB network would buy out UPN to form a new network “CW”

Now if you recall back then Joss got really bitter with TV and vowed never to return, so it makes sense that he would do this Dr Horrible thing direct to the web. If not just for the fun of working with his brothers just for kicks, but maybe just to show the networks that he has a following that no other TV writer can muster. People WILL watch his shows.

We will see if this holds true. Joss is in fact returning to TV with a midseason series Dollhouse staring Buffy Alum Eliza Dushku.

If you haven’t seen it yet, go watch Dr Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog now. It streams free in three acts at the website. It expires at midnight tonight (Sunday) and after that the only way to see it will be to buy it on iTunes or pick up the DVD eventually available in stores.

It’s so worth it.

Project Runway’s brings Bravo record numbers

It’s probably Project Runway’s last season on Bravo, but that might be exactly what has people tuning in. Yahoo!News reports:

Nearly 3 million people tuned in to the fifth-season premiere of Project Runway last night, giving Bravo its largest-ever audience for a series season premiere, according to figures released by the network.

I know I was watching, and a little underwhelmed. But then, I always spend the first few episodes of a new season thinking that I won’t like this one as much as the ones that have come before. But I do already have some least favorite characters already.

I think the controversy over their shift to Lifetime has only helped the ratings, but I do think that’s going to make the lawsuit over the show’s shift even more nasty as the season wears on. I still think it’s a bad idea on the part of Project Runway’s producers, Lifetime is not the right place for it. Will I watch it when it moves? Sure, I guess. Unless Blayne wins this season, in which case I might finally be done.

Heroes Season 3 Trailer Online!

I turned John at The Movie Blog into a Heroes Fan and together we share the excitement and let downs of the show. But that doesn’t stop us true believers! The next season “Villains” is already moving into the promotion machine and we get our first peek.

John at theMovieBlog.com shares:

Heroes season 2 was a disappointment to me and most other fans, and when we had Milo Ventimiglia (Peter on the show) on Uncut Live a few months back, he acknowledged that the shows producers admit they dropped the ball and vowed to make up for it with this 3rd season. Holy bloody spit balls it looks like they’re doing it.

Check out the Trailer here:

Heroes Webisode #1 Now Online!

The next season, entitled ‘Villians’, doesn’t premiere until September, but NBC.com has begun releasing small 3 minute “webisodes” for our eyes to snack on until then.

All in all, it was interesting, for something thats only a few minutes long, but I just want to see the new season.

One thing I did notice though, it looks like they keep on adding new characters, which would be cool if these new characters were “villians” and not “almost-heroes.” We have enough of those already. In fact, they need to lay off some of them as it is, in my opinion. It may not be looking to good.

You can watch the webisode here!

Michael J. Fox returning to TV

Michael J. Fox has been one of my favorite actors for years, and I was very saddened when he left television. But he’ll be returning soon to do a guest spot on FX’s “Rescue Me” says Yahoo!News:

Fox, 47, will portray the wheelchair-bound boyfriend of the ex-wife of the show’s lead character, New York City firefighter Tommy Gavin, played by Denis Leary, said FX spokesman John Solberg.

I don’t actually watch Rescue Me, it never seemed like my type of show. But it seems to be growing in popularity, and I think anything that has Fox coming back in front of the cameras is a good thing. Do you watch Rescue Me? Do you think it would be difficult to tune in for just these guest spots or should I rent the show?

Grissom leaving CSI

Jorja Fox might be returning, but William Petersen is leaving, according to Yahoo!News:

“My biggest problem with leaving the show at any point isn’t leaving Grissom,” said Petersen, whose previous leave of absence came when he took five weeks off to do theater in Rhode Island. “I’m an actor, it’s time to do other things.”

Honestly, the only reason I watched CSI for as long as I did was Grissom. Willows isn’t as steady a character, sometimes she’s on and I like her, other times she’s useless and over emotional. I don’t think the writers ever really got into a solid groove of who Willows was. So I don’t think she can carry the series, and adding a new character to helm the show could very easily backfire.

I don’t think the show can quite be the same without him, but I’m sure people have said the same about every cast change on Law and Order and none of those have ruined the franchise yet.

Also in the article is the news that William Friedkin will be directing the series 200th episode. That should be interesting

Katie Holmes comes to “Eli Stone”

Former “Dawson’s Creek” star, Katie Holmes, is returning to television this fall for an episode of “Eli Stone”. Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello has:

In arguably the biggest piece of stunt casting since How I Met Your Mother lassoed Britney Spears, sources confirm to me exclusively that Katie Holmes is returning to the small screen this fall on ABC’s sophomore drama, Eli Stone. A spokesperson for the show declined to comment, but I’m told Suri’s mama is on board for one episode.

I’m not a fan at all of Katie Holmes; I’ve never liked her performance (except for maybe “Ice Storm”). But, this is where stunt-casting could actually be good for the show. “Eli Stone” is one of the great dramas currently on television, but hasn’t gotten the viewership it needs. Hopefully Katie’s single episode will bring in new viewers, and they’ll stay.
